We had a busy week at Counterparty making great development progress, talking to businesses about their Counterparty integration, working on the Foundation’s offerings and planning our future steps.

Yesterday we held the second meeting of the Counterparty Foundation Board of Directors. The meeting agenda was to discuss the launch of the Foundation’s Members page, review and discuss next steps for membership benefits and agree on the foundation’s goals for the next 6 months. We’ll soon have some good news for all crypto-startups interested in becoming a Counterparty Foundation industry member, so stay tuned for the official announcement. We also agreed on making some modifications to the Individual memberships in order to improve our offerings. Details from the meeting will be published on theFoundation’s blog.

In this week’s news from the community, the Foundation’s community director Chris Derose held a presentation at TNABC explaining the Counterparty technology and why Counterparty is the leading Bitcoin 2.0 platform in the metacoin ecosystem. You can check out Chris’s talk on YouTube.
We also had some cool new projects built on the Counterparty platform and interesting community discussions. The best place to check out those is on our forum.
Development Updates
For the past few weeks our development efforts were mostly focused on code reorganization and refactoring, testing and dependency management. We implemented changes in our code to separate the server and client responsibilities and moved all commands to counterparty-cli. We also splitcounterpartyd.py into two components: counterparty-server.py and counterparty-client.py in order to separate blockchain explorer and wallet dependencies.

Moving forward our focus will be on improving Counterwallet: fixing emerging issues, implementing new features and enhancing user experience. We will also continue to work on smart contracts features and prepare them for the official launch on mainnet. Another important task on our to-do list is finishing the desktop wallet. As always, we will keep you update on any progress made.
